Over the years the Macksons name has become synonymous within the South African community and with our little town being located just 30 minutes away from the Northern Drakensberg, it made the town a prime spot for travellers passing by to stop and purchase biltong.
2019 marked 30 years of being in business and it was then that we realised our biltong was special and to keep our customers happy we needed to take it to the next level. With that thought OLD MACK BILTONG was born.
Our story dates back to 1989 with the opening of our family butchery and supermarket called Macksons in a small country town of Estcourt in the heart of the midlands in Kwa-Zulu-Natal. The business was opened by my grandfather and is founded on loyalty, trust and family values
Growing up in South Africa Biltong is one of South Africa’s biggest and proudest traditions, yet finding quality biltong was always a hard task so as South Africans we did what we do best and “ons het ‘n plan gemaak”. As a young child growing up in South Africa biltong was at the forefront of almost every occasion, be it family braai’s, days at our local dam and even sporting events.
